Mentoring inspires change, one relationship at a time.
The stories Black people tell, about who they are, can reflect our hopes and dreams back to us in profound ways, combat negative stereotypes, advance racial equity, and continue to positively benefit ongoing narratives about what it means to be Black in San Francisco.
Both Sides of the Conversation (BSOTC) Narrative Shift Program creates storytelling narratives for minority residents in the most underserved and underrepresented communities in San Francisco.
Our one-on-one conversations will create a space to talk about race and will open the way
for some of the most powerful learning and change that youth and adults will ever
The more we form authentic relationships and connections with community members – the more we will understand them—especially those who typically face the most marginalization, such as people of color, LGBTQ students, students from low-income families, English language learners, new immigrants, and students with physical or learning disabilities.
1. To focus on the Storytelling Narrative to shift cultural values and opinions to work toward racial equity.
2. To create space at the table for all community members and groups to contribute and engage with each other to reach racial equity in our neighborhoods.
