Both Sides of the
There is a need for positive change.
Both Sides of the Conversation is a 501c3 nonprofit that was created to provide resources through effective conversations that empower our people.
Through open dialogue, we explore the challenges and barriers that are faced within our Black and Brown communities to connect, reflect and develop ways of healing together.
We focus on listening and providing resources because we believe all underserved communities have one thing in common, the need for positive change.

Our Black-led and volunteer-based, 501(c)(3) California nonprofit organization was established in August 2020 in San Francisco’s diverse and historic Bayview Hunters Point neighborhood. Our mission is to provide resources through impactful dialogue that empowers the Black and Brown communities to become economically self-sufficient.
We have been a vessel for impactful information and resources for our communities. More than eighty-five percent (85%) of the population served and impacted are residents who reside in Bayview Hunters Point, Potrero Hill, Fillmore/Western Addition, Mission, Tenderloin, and Excelsior neighborhoods. We partner with organizations to assist youth and families with navigating support systems to close educational, health, and wealth gaps, with an intentional focus on the Black and Brown Community. Our long-term purpose is a planned long-term investment in each family, combined with a structured partnership between city agencies and community partners to make a lasting impact in individual families’ lives.
With the financial assistance we receive from our Community, we look to utilize these funds to provide paid employment opportunities, obtain innovative media software & equipment, and fund our youth program, including job training, mentorship, and mental health services.
Your donation will help make an impact, ease the financial burden we currently face in our organization, and allow us to continue our service to the Community through our digital platform.

“You can’t lead the community if you don’t feed the community with love, food, education, and information.”
My continued efforts inspired me to form Both Sides of the Conversation as I saw a need to provide a platform that addresses the issues that are negatively impacting the Black and Brown communities with a focus on changing the narrative.

“Jon has created a platform that really highlights the unsung heroes of our community. Jon has opened doors and has restored hope to the people during these trying times. He’s a trusted voice and source for the voiceless. Much love and gratitude.”
Founder, San Francisco Rebels
“I thoroughly enjoyed my time on the show. The platform is an awesome way to engage the community and I am hoping that the information I presented touched people in ways that helped them expand their views on racism and anti-Blackness. Also, working with you and Jon was a great experience.”

“A great ground breaking show that supports and educates the community.”
Tachelle Herron Lane
“BSOTC provided an outlet for students to be highlighted in the community while they were in the San Francisco State Step to College class as a result they were praised and uplifted by their peers and parents to go on to do Sunday shows and Thursday shows. This was a great way of engagement for the youth in the program.”

“I am very proud of both sides of the conversation, it’s very educational to learn information that we weren’t privy to. The questions are asked and answered, the community is highlighted all over San Francisco and the black and brown community are collaborating. He’s there to show support and give information to the community highlighting hidden gems. This is a resource we didn’t know we need it but definitely need to support.”

“Both Sides of The Conversation is a media outlet for the underprivileged community. They have been consistently active in spreading the word and sharing services throughout the Bay Area. Having the opportunity to document this journey of change in my own community is so special. It is a honor to be a part of that history.”
