Ignite Youth Function
On May 18th, the African American Art & Culture Complex in San Francisco was buzzing with energy as young people gathered for a day filled with inspiring workshops, mouthwatering eats, and incredible performances. The event was a massive success, bringing the community together in a celebration of youth empowerment and creativity.
We had unforgettable performances that kept everyone dancing. The workshops were a hit, providing valuable insights and skills to fuel passions and future endeavors. And let's not forget the delicious food that kept everyone energized and satisfied! Thank you to everyone who joined us and made this event so special.

Engage 10th Anniversary
USF’s commitment to working in and with The Fillmore/Western Addition neighborhood. We'll recognize 10 years of partnerships, programs, and accomplishments while looking ahead to the next 10 years. Our collaborators, co-educators, participants, and supporters are all invited to celebrate reaching this momentous milestone in community-engaged learning and partnerships with residents and community-rooted organizations.

Townhall Budget Meeting
SFPD and SFMTA are responding to residents living in Bayview who have continually dealt with ongoing issues involving abandoned vehicles, illegally parked vehicles, and associated trash and debris in the affected areas. These issues create an unhealthy living environment. This operation is designed to address some of these problems and improve the overall environment. This operation will coordinate with other City agencies and operations (DHSH, DPW, HSOC) so as to offer services and to provide cleanup for debris left behind.

Dream Keeper Initiative-Dreaming Forward
On behalf of the San Francisco Human Rights Commission, we invite you to join us on February 1, 2024, at the War Memorial Veterans Building, for our third annual Dream Keeper Initiative celebration and call to action, “Dreaming Forward: Black to San Francisco.”
This day-long conference is open to the public and will celebrate DKI accomplishments and look ahead to future successes. The event will feature special guests including our keynote speaker, educator and author Dr. Bettina Love, and will center conversations on leveraging the tools from our past to accelerate our future.

Code Tenderloin and Assemblyman Matt Haney are hosting an open, free, and diverse celebration for the holiday season at Thrive City. The event is free and open to the Bay Area community! We want to create an event that fosters togetherness and strengthens the bonds within our community.The Joy to the City event is on Sunday, December 17, 2023, from 1 PM - 6 PM. The event offers a wide array of festivities including a toy giveaway, photobooth w/ Santa, music, performances, DJs, kids play area, senior chill area, food trucks, vendors, ice skating rink, cocoa giveaway, and family portraits. We are creating a diverse holiday event that encompasses the holiday for all cultures.

As we approach the 75th anniversary of the United Nation's Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the San Francisco Human Rights Commission in partnership with the Leo T. McCarthy Center, presents a conversation with author and scholar Jelani Cobb, dean of the Graduate School of Journalism at Columbia University.
Join us for a wide-ranging discussion to explore the role of journalism in the fight for equity and justice. Dean Cobb will be joined in conversation by Dr. Sheryl Davis, executive director of the Human Rights Commission and USF adjunct faculty.

Public Safety Town Hall - Bayview

This town hall is an opportunity for community members to share feedback on the Dream Keeper Initiative, hear budget updates from City department partners, learn about the DKI impact over the past 3 years, and hear more about program priorities. The discussions at this town hall may inform future Dream Keeper funding.
We will also receive remarks from Supervisor Shamann Walton. This event is free and open to the public.

Cecil Williams’ arrival to GLIDE with an all-star gathering led by illustrious songwriter and performer Valerie Simpson. Alongside the nationally renowned GLIDE Ensemble and the Change Band lead by Vernon Bush and Zoe Ellis, Simpson, and special guests blues guitarist, producer, composer, and philanthropist D'Wayne Wiggins (of Tony! Toni! Toné!); prolific R&B and soulful visionary Goapele; and captivating soul singer Martin Luther McCoy will share meaningful tributes to Cecil featuring the legendary music of Ashford & Simpson. Additionally, hear remarks from GLIDE's new President and CEO, Dr. Gina Fromer. KQED’s Priya David Clemens will be the evening’s Mistress of Ceremonies.
