Communications Director

This role is responsible for managing all communications plan activities and building external relationships with the organization's constituencies, including funders and the media. Responsible for crafting and executing effective communication strategies to promote our mission and engage our audience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive communication plans to raise awareness of the nonprofit's mission and digital media initiatives.

  • Create compelling content for various channels, including social media, newsletters, press releases, and website updates.

  • Manage media relations and cultivate partnerships to enhance the nonprofit's visibility.

  • Monitor and analyze communication performance metrics to continuously improve strategies.

  • Collaborate with the team to ensure consistent and impactful messaging across all platforms.

  • Promotes and adheres to BSOTC’s mission and vision, policies, and applicable laws in a fair and equitable manner.

  • Performs additional responsibilities related to the success of the organization.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in communications, public relations, or related fields.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong understanding of digital media and social media platforms.

  • Creative mindset with the ability to tell engaging stories.

  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and consistency in messaging.

Condition of Volunteerism

  • Must sign a Confidentiality Agreement.

  • Must be flexible to volunteer evenings and weekends as needed.

  • Must complete and/or sign all volunteer or independent paperwork. Independent contractors must complete an MOU, and W9.
