Jon Henry, a native of San Francisco's District 10 in Bayview Hunters Point, has dedicated his life to making a positive impact on his community. Raised in a neighborhood that faced numerous social challenges due to limited resources, Jon witnessed firsthand the struggles faced by his community. Motivated to bring about change, he embarked on a path of service and advocacy.

Jon's educational journey began in the public schools of San Francisco, where he attended McAteer High School. He then pursued a career in heating and air conditioning (HVAC) through the City College of San Francisco and the apprenticeship program offered by Local 38. Becoming a Journeyman Heating and Air Conditioning Service Mechanic equipped Jon with valuable skills, but his true passion lay in empowering and uplifting his community.

At the young age of eighteen, Jon made a conscious decision to contribute to his community by joining the Alive and Free Omega Boys Club. In this role, he became a mentor and community activist, providing guidance and support to young individuals facing adversity. Recognizing the urgent need to address the challenges faced by marginalized youth, Jon committed himself to inspiring change.

For over twenty-five years, Jon has dedicated himself to mentoring incarcerated youth at San Francisco's Youth Guidance Center (YGC). By providing guidance and positive role modeling, he strives to empower these young individuals to break free from the cycle of incarceration and lead fulfilling lives. Jon's commitment extends beyond mentoring, as he actively engages in feeding the unhoused and distributing resources to communities throughout San Francisco.

Motivated by his ongoing efforts and a desire to effect broader change, Jon founded Both Sides of the Conversation. This nonprofit organization aims to provide a platform for addressing the issues that disproportionately affect Black and Brown communities, with a specific focus on changing the prevailing narrative. Through open dialogue, community engagement, and advocacy, Jon and his team work tirelessly to challenge stereotypes, promote understanding, and create a more equitable society.

As the Executive Director of Both Sides of the Conversation, Jon Henry brings his deep understanding of community needs and unwavering commitment to social justice. With his vast experience in mentoring, activism, and resource distribution, he continues to inspire and uplift individuals and communities. Jon's tireless efforts demonstrate his determination to transform lives and create lasting change, one conversation at a time.
